WHAT WE BELIEVE
-
ONE TRUE GOD
We believe in the one true God who has revealed himself as the Creator of heaven and earth and the Redeemer of all of creation and humankind, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
-
SALVATION
We believe that humanity’s only hope of redemption is through the shed blood of Jesus, the Son of God, on the Cross. Salvation is received through repentance toward God and faith toward the resurrected Jesus.
-
THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe every follower of Jesus receives the Holy Spirit upon salvation to guide, comfort, convict, and adopt us into the family of God, transforming us into Christlikeness. Furthermore, we believe that we should enthusiastically expect and earnestly seek the promise of the Father—the baptism in the Holy Spirit. With this baptism comes the empowerment for life, service and mission, including the spiritual gifts that reveal God’s Kingdom reality to a hurting world.
-
CHURCH
We believe the Church is the living body of Christ on earth with Jesus as its head and source of life. This body is composed of men, women, and children who have confessed in a personal faith in Jesus and serve as co-laborers on mission with God to make disciples throughout the world. As a people living in God’s Kingdom, we live as reconciled and unified people across gender, racial, ethnic, and class differences.
-
SCRIPTURE
We believe Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments, are verbally inspired of God and the revelation of God to humanity, telling His grand story of redemption. Infallible and authoritative, the dynamic and transformative power of the Word of God directs the Church, guiding each Christian in Jesus-centered living.
-
JESUS' RETURN & OUR FUTURE
We believe in the immanent return of Jesus, knowing that at the end of all things Jesus will reign eternally. According to His character revealed through Scriptures, He will judge humanity with justice and mercy. Those who have experienced salvation through Jesus will enjoy His presence forever; those who have not will be separated from God for eternity. Until the time of His return, we will live in response to this future reality and proclaim: Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again!
As an Assemblies of God (AG) church, Authentic Church holds to the Sixteen Truths of the AG.
